I use it and have always encouraged others to do the same.

GLAD TO KNOW I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE! Switch to firefox now!

Major Flaw Revealed in Internet Explorer; others urged to switch

The major press outlets are abuzz this morning with news of a major new security flaw that affects all versions of Internet Explorer from IE5 to the latest beta of IE8. The attack has serious and far-reaching ramifications -- and they're not just theoretical attacks. In fact, the flaw is already in wide use as a tool to steal online game passwords, with some 10,000 websites infected with the code needed to take advantage of the hole in IE.
Virtually all security experts (as well as myself) are counseling users to switch to any other web browser -- none of the others are affected, including Firefox, Chrome, and Opera -- at least for the time being, though Microsoft has stubbornly said it "cannot recommend people switch due to this one flaw." Microsoft adds that it is working on a fix but has offered no ETA on when that might happen. Meanwhile it offers some suggestions for a temporary patch, including setting your Internet security zone settings to "high" and offering some complicated workarounds. (Some reports state, however, that the fixes do not actually work.)

Expedient patching or switching are essential. Security pros fear that the attack will soon spread beyond the theft of gaming passwords and into more criminal arenas, as the malicious code can be placed on any website and can be adapted to steal any password stored or entered using the browser. It's now down to the issue of time: Will Microsoft repair the problem and distribute a patch quickly enough to head off the tsunami of fraud that's about to hit or will it come too late to do any good?

Meanwhile, I'll reiterate my recommendation: Switch from Internet Explorer as soon as you can. You can always switch back once the threat is eliminated.

The On Demand Global Workforce - oDesk

.HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-72955438365139984292008-11-04T04:58:00.000-08:002008-11-04T05:21:43.351-08:00Fine Time To Be AmericanTime to vote...time to make a difference....no....NOT that!

----it is because it is time to get FREE COFFEE from Starbucks!

----- only for Americans...huhuhu

*
HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-70460879851173746192008-11-01T06:22:00.000-07:002008-11-04T01:19:15.927-08:00All Eyes...Ears....and Fingers! Election 2008Ever since I had this client that is a political blogger.... my whole day has almost always been watching, listening, monitoring and writing about U.S. politics.

So what is my take about the Obama-McCain fight? I think that although Obama is leading in the stats...there is still hope that McCain will win. Is it obvious? I do not like Obama....he has too much of gray areas for comfort. His stand on abortion and infant rights leave a bad taste in the mouth.

That is just the tip of the iceberg.... there is more about his ties to Palestine. And what about that aunt of his that supposedly is out of the US but is really an illegal alien who is living in some slum somewhere?

Now I am not saying that McCain is the BEST bet... I personally did not like it that this current marriage started from an affair....but it will be a fight for the lesser evil I guess. I do not know if the man, granting he will win...will last the whole presidential term. And Lord help the US when Palin steps up to the presidency. I do not think she is really ready to jump that high in the political ladder. As a good friend of mine said...McCain likes beautiful women around him.... just look at Cindy....and now Palin. But I do not think that make good governance if ever. *sigh*

Hopefully this will not be a question of voting for color..wherein African Americans will vote for someone like-skinned. If the caucasians do not vote because of color...people call it racism... now...if people vote for color...wouldn't that be racism too?

Just my thoughts...

My prayers go out to the US citizens...your choice will affect us all....HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-45143620580044943312008-08-30T19:36:00.000-07:002008-08-30T19:54:22.808-07:00Split Personalities?Gosh has it been that long already? Two whole months of not posting anything.

I have been busy you see...got some clients who want me to do forum posting for them. That would have been easy if not for one of the clients wanting me to populate her forum with posts. I cannot be just one entity posting like crazy all over right? I cannot have one entity doing monologues...so what does one do in situations like these? Create multiple identities! That way....Ident#1 has someone to talk to/interact with.

That would have been fine if my client wanted me to just do 2 or 3...I did such a darned good job at it that I was asked to do 3 more! Yikes!!!! How does one handle forum posting with 6 idents without going crazy? hahahahaha

Ident #1 --- A stay-at-home mom with a toddler (not that hard to do since I am exactly that!)
Ident #2 --- A teen-age boy with raging hormones (uhhhhh...oh well...)
Ident #3 --- A college student who is also working on the side in a law firm.
Ident #4 --- A young entrepreneur who wants to make a living via various web businesses, etc.
Ident #5 --- A cynical girl who is out looking for debates
Ident #6 --- A wise old man who just retired from his truck driver gig.

SEE WHAT I MEAN????

I have to be sure that what I write, the language I use and the manner of which I type have to be as much as possible distinct from one character to the next. Crazy! Crazy! Crazy! lolHardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-15114162054578690902008-06-28T00:15:00.000-07:002008-06-28T00:28:39.126-07:00Farming OutI thank the Lord for being sooo busy that I was able to farm out some of my work to others.

The first hire was a cousin who did excellent work in copy-pasting. hehehe

Now I have 3 assistants who help me with data mining. I pay according to performance. The more they produce, the higher they get. I give them a quota every week. They are earning somewhere between 200p - 600p a day. Not bad for part-time/full-time work where you got no bundy clock and no boss breathing down your neck. (I have found no need to do so for they are pretty efficient in what they do.) As long as they meet the quota...there should not be a problem.HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-73481049407311240612008-03-05T05:08:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:49:48.113-08:00Tools of the Trade
With the advent of the ever-advancing technology, having a home-office can now be as viable as going to the actual office itself. There are just so many things you can do now that was not available to the home-worker a decade ago.

VOIP for one has enabled many of us from India and the Philippines to make calls abroad for a very small fraction of the cost. And that means that we can have an edge over those who are living in America in terms of hire-ability (is there such a word? hehehe). WE can work for a fraction of the cost that it would take to hire an American.

The computers available now in the market for the ordinary person who wants to work are so plentiful. If you want to work at home and do not have yet the capacity to buy a brand-new quadcore PC, you can breathe easier now for my PC is actually just Pentium 4. You can also purchase a second-hand desktop computer from a reliable vendor. Just make sure that you can install at the very least the basic Microsoft software such as Windows XP, either the home or the pro version. Also, make sure that you have at the very least the MS Office 2000.

And what really amazes me is that the internet, even screamingly-fast DSL ones are now available and affordable for us! Pick a DSL that is reliable. You would not want your prospective employer to find you constantly getting booted off the server just because your ISP sucks big time.

A good headset. A webcam. A nice thermos mug that keeps your coffee warm longer than its usual porcelain sisters.

These are the things I see right in front of me so these are the ones that I have mentioned. Feel free to add.HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681868677414461302.post-81274630225352829192008-03-05T04:35:00.000-08:002008-06-05T15:19:32.278-07:00Working At HomeIt is never an easy decision to work at home. I have found it to be frustrating and rewarding at the same time.

Frustrating because there are just so many bogus employers out there. Then there are those who do are legit employers but who do not pay their workers/employees.

Another frustration is that I am always tempted to just go back to sleep especially when I check on my son and see him snoring away on the bed! I just wanna curl up on the bed beside him and snore away too. hahahaha.

The rewards though have been great! I am there for my son. He is excelling in school. He is growing up and I am there to see everything first-hand instead of the reports that I used to get from whoever was his primary caregiver at that time.... usually it was his grandma.

Working from home has given me greater freedom in terms of time. I normally wake up early, get some work done, prepare my son for school, bring my son to school and then work during the two hours that he is in school. If my 4-yr-old and I feel like going to the mall afterward, it is ok since there is no pressure to be back at my office. When my son takes his mid-day nap, that is when I take my much-needed rest too. I call it my "sacred sleep." NEVER DISTURB unless it is of extreme emergency like the house is on fire! ha ha ha

Although some projects/work require you to keep graveyard hours, it is okay since all you gotta do to go to the "office" is to get yourself a mug of strong coffee and wash your face. That's it.... no more having to take a bath (I actually work in my jammies at times he he he) and no more having to apply all that gunk on my face called make-up. No need to be pretty for clients for they cannot see my face anyways. And there is no need to drive through heavy traffic, sometimes having to drive like a madman to get to the office in time.HardworkinMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16509438876673535729noreply@blogger.com0
